When It Hurts, Seek God Before You React

Have you ever been hurt by someone and felt the immediate urge to defend yourself?
What if, instead of reacting to the pain, we first sought God’s embrace?

When someone’s words or actions wound us, it’s natural to want to respond, explain, or push back. But reacting from a place of pain rarely brings peace — it often makes the wound deeper.

God teaches us that not everything requires an immediate response. There are moments when staying silent and running to His presence is the wisest thing we can do. In that sacred space, He heals what hurts, brings clarity to our confusion, and fills us with the peace we need to keep loving — even when we’re hurting.

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
Exodus 14:14 (NIV)

Prayer:
Lord, when someone hurts us, remind us that we don’t need to react. Teach us to seek You first, to rest in You, and to trust that You will fight for us. Fill us with Your peace and give us hearts that respond with love, not pain. Amen.
